Caring for the Eye Area
"Windows to the Soul," "The First Thing People See," "The Most Important Part of Your Face." No matter what part you feel they play in your personality, no one can deny that the eyes are a very important feature and are often the focus of attention.

Because the area surrounding the eye is so delicate (there are no bones supporting this area) the skin is very fragile and is often subject to excessive wear. Contact lens wearers, people with sensitive eyes and allergy suffers know that they are often rubbing or pulling at this area. It's also generally the first area to show signs of aging--from squinting, pulling or just general gravity.

There are a number of products that can help fight the signs of aging in this area.

Eye Make-up Remover

If you use eye make-up, you should ABSOLUTELY use an eye make-up remover to take your make-up off. The long wearing make-up that is available now is often hard to remove and you definitely don't want to pull or tug at the eye area any more than you have to. Our Eye Make-up Removers are great for sensitive eyes and are non-oily. You want a non-oily product so you don't leave a nasty residue. Eye Make-up Remover is specifically designed to dissolve and remove eye make-up, even difficult to remove waterproof products including mascara. The proper way to use an eye make-up remover is to saturate a cotton ball and gently swipe across your eye area. Wait for several seconds to give the product time to dissolve your make-up and then wipe gently with the cotton ball to remove all traces of make-up. Rinse with tepid water to remove any residue. We offer a regular Eye Make-up Remover in both liquid and foam form and an Eye Make-up Remover Gel which is even more gentle.

Eye Creme

Well, you've heard pros and cons about Eye Creme and while the jury seems to still be out for many people, the fact is: If you have dry skin and are over 25 or you are over 35 with any type of skin, it is time to add an eye creme to your routine. An eye creme serves several functions. Moisturizers are designed to make the skin feel soft and smooth by bringing moisture to the surface of the skin and "plumping" the skin. Unless you want to suffer from puffy eyes, which the moisturizer can aggravate by "plumping" the skin in the eye area, you should use an eye creme to moisturize without plumping the skin. The eye creme should be dotted on the bone around the eye (all the way around), and gently patted in. The eye will absorb what it needs and the eye creme will also generate a "shield" to keep the moisturizer from getting into the eye area.

The eye creme will help prevent dry, tired looking eyes (the skin around the eyes can often look dull and cause your eyes to look sunken in). It will also moisturize the area to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming. And, if you occasionally suffer from puffy eyes, using an eye creme will help reduce them. (If you have chronic puffy eyes, use the Soothing Eye Gel to shrink the puffiness.)

Soothing Eye Gel

Puffy eyes can be a real problem. They are generally worse in the morning and can be aggravated by sinus/allergy trouble. Fluids become trapped in the delicate eye tissues and swell. The Soothing Eye Gel actually helps shrink the puffiness. It should be used very sparingly and applied directly onto the puffy area.

Firming Eye Gel

Fine lines and crepiness in the eye area is very difficult to disguise. Make-up tends to cake up in these areas, making the effect even worse. The Firming Eye Gel tightens and firms this delicate skin. It should be sparingly applied on the bone around the eye (all the way around) and gently patted in. Allow it to dry and continue with your regular skincare routine. The Firming Eye Gel gently tightens and firms, hydrating the eye area and reducing fine lines and improving crepiness. This product is cumulative in nature--continued use will increase the improvement.

Undereye Lightening Gel

Finally dark shadows can be improved. Dark undereye shadows are often caused by thinning skin under the eyes. Because there is no bone directly supporting this skin and it is so delicate it often darkens as you age. This area is also often overworked by applying and removing eye make-up and rubbing irritated eyes. This can make the shadows appear worse. Undereye Lightening Gel contains botanicals that gently help rebuild these delicate undereye tissues and gradually help lighten dark undereye circles. It should be sparingly applied directly onto the dark shadow and allowed to dry. This product is cumulative in nature--continued use will increase the improvement.

Glyco AHA/BHA Eye Creme

Alpha/Beta Hydroxy Acid (AHA/BHA) products are well recognized for the benefits they provide in improving fine lines and wrinkles, reducing age spots and making skin appear "younger" and "fresher" looking. The Glyco AHA/BHA Eye Creme is an AHA/BHA product specifically formulated to be used in the eye area. It should be used at night and applied on the bone around the eye (any closer may cause burning and irritation). This product is suitable for all skin types and is extremely gentle. If you are noticing fine lines and crepiness in the eye area, this is a great solution for preventing the formation of additional lines and to help repair the lines that exist.

Eye care is a critical part of a skincare routine. The eye area is one of the first to show signs of aging and even if the rest of your skin is fabulous, eyes are often a give away.
